A Dirty Shame (J.J. Graves Mysteries #2) by Liliana Hart
Reading this straight after the first book in the series, I was struck by how much darker this one was. The humor from the first wasn't there in this, and from what the character's went through in the first one it is understandable and completely believable.
The love story takes a giant step forward, but it's not forced in any way. It feels like a right step at a right time despite the circumstances.
