I have no idea, but I found an interesting book in the giveaways, I click request and then notice it's only USA... but I mean it's ebook.

Someone needs to hire me to make their book covers, cause I keep finding books I wanna read!

I AM TOO POOR!!!

Mercury in Retrograde by CJane Elliott

Mercury in Retrograde - CJane Elliott

Not much to say about this except, such wasted potential.

It started out good, great plot and characters to play with, and a very beautiful setting.

I kept reading, thinking at some point she'll get back to that feeling I had in the first chapter, it just never came.

Crashing Into You by B.D. Rowe (DNF)

Crashing Into You - B.D. Rowe

NetGalley request for honest review.

I don't think I've ever given a book only half a star before, most books at least deserves a full 1, just for making me laugh.

I tried, I really did. But I could not finish this. BIG ASS DNF.
The dialogue reads like a joke, you actually wonder at some points if it's a parody.
There is no depth to the characters whatsoever, well they are about the most shallow bunch ever, I guess that's something.

This is just bad bad writing.

I have read some of the other reviews and skimmed spoilers, and I really do not even want to try to finish this.

a book is only released via the publishers website and I want to rate and review it.

Allegiant (Divergent #3) by Veronica Roth

Allegiant - Veronica Roth

I have been jonesing at the bits having Allegiant released so I could finally read this awesome series that everyone is talking about.

It has not lived up to my expectations.

This book like the two before it is gruesome and vivid. But much too complicated. When I read dystopian books, I would very much like to go, (unless fantasy) this is really scary, this could ACTUALLY happen. The world outside, that we were left wondering about in Insurgent, didn't capture me at all. The divide between the people (in that capacity) wasn't something I could imagine happening.

I do think that Roth wanted this one to be the most emotional of them all, but like in the previous, Allegiant didn't have me feeling much except the emotion of can it be done yet.

You have to give Roth props though, deciding on the ending she did.

Insurgent (Divergent #2) by Veronica Roth

Insurgent - Veronica Roth

I had some issues with this one. It was very contradictory and so many characters that was not even close to how they were portrayed in the first book.

Like how is Peter even still alive? How is it that Eric didn't just shot him in the head? He ran, he made a deal with Tris and ran. Divergent Eric would have shot him for being a traitor.

How is it that even though Eric didn't, why did Evelyn let him live?

(show spoiler)

Roth is still a very talented writer, but as in the first one I was not captured by the feelings of the characters at all. People died, and I assume we the readers were supposed to feel sad. Something is just lacking for me in that department.

Also the FUBAR error. This is the ebook edition and I'm wondering now, is the error still in the newer prints?

At 39% Tobias tells Tris that no he missed that information because, "He was hauling wounded with Zeke." Now Zeke had previously been said to have been with the Erudite and there was no mention of him coming back.

At 43% Zeke is coming down the road supporting a wounded Tori, they just escaped Erudite.

I personally am choosing to believe that it was a typo the first time, another name was supposed to be there. And I hope in this multi million dollar book series, soon to be a movie, that I was not the only one that noticed, and that it has been fixed.

And oh yea, Dauntless's <--- Really?

Reading Insurgent

There is a major fubar error in it... this is a multi million dollar book series, going to be movie... and this actually slipped through the cracks...

I cannot have been the only one that noticed this...

Divergent (Divergent #1) by Veronica Roth

Divergent - Veronica Roth

I'm a bit late to the party, there's way too many series I'm reading that's not finished, so I decided this wouldn't be one of them. This is now complete (except the novella stories to come) so I decided now was the time.

I don't mind spoilers, I knew what it was about, I've seen the trailer to the movie, (which actually looks nothing like I imagined it while reading) but there was a lot more that I just had no idea was coming.

It was a really good book, it wasn't an AWESOME book, but I did enjoy reading it. There was no complicated information, which I thought it would be. Keeping track of the infactions was surprisingly easy. And as character heavy as it was, it was never confusing knowing who said what or did that. You always had a clear picture in your head about each character.

Roth is a talented writer, it was an easy book to read. But I was missing those emotions that jumps out at you, where you just have to put it away and breath for a moment. Whether it was a happy or sad emotion I didn't really get the connection to it.

Publishers against Amazon

I got a short and concise response from Dreamspinner Press:

We only supply one retail price to Amazon.com in USD. Our retail list price on other Amazon sites are converted the equivalent amount in that currency. Since you are using the same site and currency as your American friend you will need to contact Amazon to find out why you are seeing a price difference.

This is what we were expecting no?

It is not only Dreamspinner Press, one of the books I asked for prices on yesterday was from Riptide publishing.

In the email from Amazon it says:

Please be informed that the Kindle content in the Kindle Store is provided to us directly by the publishers or authors who own that content. Pricing of these titles varies by your country of residence and they include digital list prices, local market segment prices, and tax rates in it.

I think this is awful, and I can't understand why it's only a few publishers this is happening with. And I have never seen it in self-pub, so I assume the "taxes" for amazon isn't that high to justify a double pricing. Has anyone else seen it in self-publishing?

I don't have a blog, but I don't know could be a thing for a few book bloggers to point out to others?

Freeing Asia by E.M. Abel

Freeing Asia - E.M. Abel

I don't think I've ever read a book that had like 4 endings before... I think that's it and turn the page and there's more.

It felt like this was written by a 15 year old that's never actually lived a life, but thinks this is how it is after having watched 20 movies.

Northern Star by Ethan Day

Northern Star - Ethan Day

Rating a book 4.5 stars seems silly to me, either it was perfect or it wasn't. But... what ever.

Reason it's not a full 5 is of Deacon, I had some hang-ups on his hang-ups. The drama he put Pete through went a little too far.

It was an honest book, with honest characters and honest problems.

I like following normal people, in their normal life.

Favor?

Would someone be kind enough to let me know how much these are priced for an american so I can let DSP know?

I have a gift certificate at amazon and want to buy your books, but just because I'm in Sweden I have to pay DOUBLE what Americans do?

A kindle book priced at 6.99 for you is priced 11.24 for me. ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME??

Slide (Roads #1) by Leigh Garrett

Slide - Garrett Leigh

Ok... I am very torn. I was looking forward to this so much. I am a little disappointed. My rating might not show it, but it's still there.

I really like the way Garrett laid out the plot. Beginning with, almost the end and catching up.

Pete was great to read, it was easy to understand his emotions. Ash I had more difficulty with, growing up in the foster system and living fending for himself from a very early age can make you miss a lot of things. But there was some points he was so naive and clueless it was a bit unbelievable. It was just taken a bit too far.

From what he's gone through, a depression or PTSD is not far fetched at all, you do see small moments on what could be something, but to me it wasn't enough. The part where he all of a sudden is taking unsubscribed meds and disappears and is gone for so long and doesn't take care of himself. It wasn't set up properly for me. Even though you were in Pete's world at that time, a lot were missing.

(show spoiler)

The writing started out iffy in the beginning, following Ash there was a lot of, I opened the door, I went into the room, I closed the door, I opened the fridge, I opened a beer, I drank the beer... I'm sure there's an actual word for that I don't know. I don't know if that was deliberate seeing the world through Ash's eyes, but to me that disrupts the flow of a book. I want flow when I read.

There was sadly a great deal of editing fails. And such things I cannot just forgive.

Information you were given via Ash was given again via Pete, it's really enough with just the once. Decide who you want to give the information and delete that other scene.

They also had sex when Pete's ribs were bruised, and I would very much like to have a conversation with Garrett about that... it just does not happen. Clearly she's never encountered a person with such an injury.

Thoughts as I read:

1% "Giving head was never my thing before I met him." Oh my, rookie romance writing mistake."

1% First typo... there's not supposed to be a 'from' in that sentence.

23% Beginning of chapter 8 is very rushed. Kiss, avoid, epiphany, flu, waking up after flu days later, but there is no substance. It's a lot of days narrated but nothing to read.

29% Hmm it was dark when he was finally allowed to head home and now his scar is catching the sunlight...

50% Edit fail, "he'd never lie with his back to me like that with me."

55% yea I already know that, why you telling me again?

82% "coffee and toast down him." No.

Thank you to Sandra from My Fiction Nook for giving me the opportunity to read this.
